Inspired by countless makers around the world, I bought myself a small little CNC machine. My decision went for an Inventables X-Carve in the 1000mm configuration. It takes a third of my woodshop, but I enjoy every hour I can spend with it.

Since I got started on CNC machining, I advanced quite a bit, given that I taught everything myself. Being a small perfectionist, I aimed for more and more precision; I sometimes even got upset if something was off just a bit.

Most of the time, I couldn't find XY work zero precisely repetitively, in between different manufacturing steps. I figured I needed an XYZ Touch Probe; after searching the internet, I couldn't find a touch probe I was happy with. I didn't want to spend past $100, and I didn't want to have a plated version. I wanted to be made out of a solid block...

So, I decided to design one myself!
